Our 2026 Priorities

Defending and Advancing California’s Values

We’ve joined together to ensure civil prosecutors in California actively shape the laws we enforce and to be a resource for legislators, providing insight into the needs of our communities and partnering to craft effective solutions.

This year, we’re focused on:

Federal Actions: Reduce the impact of potential federal action on targeted populations within our communities by partnering with the state on litigation, rulemaking, legislation, and other work.

Workers’ Rights Enforcement Grant Program: Extend the expiring $18 million grant program at the Labor Commissioner’s Office, which provides funding to public prosecutors to combat wage theft, strengthen enforcement of labor laws, and end exploitative workplace practices across California.

Immigrant Rights: Clarify protections in state law related to the provision of aid and benefits to noncitizens.

Improve Civil Enforcement: Authorize access to state summary criminal history information for offices of the city attorney or county counsel enforcing “Red Light Abatement” laws intended to curb prostitution or other public nuisances.

Our offices are in the process of reviewing additional proposals and will be adding to our legislative priorities.
